Good storage protects the shape you have taken time to create. The aim is simple: keep flowers clean, dry and supported, with no heavy weight on the petals. Pack a finished arrangement differently from loose stems, and make it easy to find again.
Clean and inspect before packing
Remove surface dust with a soft brush or dry cloth, supporting delicate heads and leaves. Check the care instructions before using any moisture. If damp cleaning is permitted, let every part dry completely before packing. Trapped moisture can damage some materials and leave the storage box in poor condition.
Look for loose flower heads or exposed wire ends. Avoid making a rushed repair with an unfamiliar glue: it can mark coatings or make the next repair harder. Keep any detached part with the arrangement and ask the supplier for advice if needed.
Give petals their own space
Choose a rigid box with enough width and height for the full outline. Soft, clean packing material can support the vase and prevent movement, but should not press into the flower heads. Do not tightly wrap an entire arrangement as though it were a parcel of clothing.
For loose stems, group similar lengths and lay them so that flower heads do not carry the weight of other stems. Separate delicate blooms with loose tissue where helpful. Protect sharp wire ends and avoid hard bends made only to fit a box.
Choose a stable storage spot
- Use a dry indoor space away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid storage where temperatures or humidity vary sharply.
- Do not stack heavy boxes on a flower box.
- Keep the vase base supported and the container upright where possible.
- Label the box with the arrangement name or palette.
- Add a quick photograph of the display so you can recreate its outline.
A large rigid arrangement may be easier to protect standing upright under a loose dust cover than forced into a small container. Make sure the cover does not weigh down the tallest stems.
Unpack slowly and reshape gently
Lift the vase or the supported stem bundle, not the flower heads. Remove packing from the outside in and let the arrangement sit before deciding what needs adjustment. If the stems are designed to bend, support the joint and make small changes. Do not use steam, heat or a hairdryer unless the product’s own care instructions explicitly allow it.
